How do you create an environment that welcomes all languages and cultures?
Video Series: Nurturing a culturally and linguistically responsive environment
Migration is not a new phenomenon in Ireland and more and more a change in demographics can be seen everywhere. Migration has created a need for educators and other professionals working with children to understand how to enhance certain aspects of their practice. The Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY) is continuously working to promote and support a culturally and linguistically responsive practice.
With the DCEDIY, Mother Tongues and Early Childhood Ireland are working to help educators support children and their families. We have developed resources to help you explore how to nurture a culturally and linguistically responsive environment.
To learn more, you can watch this 3-part series of related videos on the Early Childhood Ireland YouTube channel.
The videos will be available from Monday, 1 August until Friday, 30 September. You can watch these videos at your own pace and in your own time. Questions and comments are welcome. We will respond to any questions and comments by the end of September, so we can all learn and share knowledge.
