It’s been already 13 years since #CultureNight has been an amazing and free opportunity to explore a range of venues across Ireland and join the celebration of art, creativity and culture!  If you’re looking for some great language events in Dublin have a look at this list!

Mother Tongues at Culture Night#TheGutterBookshop
Join one of Dublin’s best independent booksellers for the most exciting evening of the year! At 5 pm, The Hellenic Community of Ireland and Mother Tongues invite you to a multilingual storytelling session for children. All welcome.

Visit Ireland’s only school specialising in teaching Portuguese. Enjoy an evening of lusophone music, film excerpts and readings from some of the best-known writers and poets in Portuguese from Angola, Brazil and Portugal. Enjoy a cafezinho whilst browsing the mini-library or learning about Portuguese-speaking countries through the school’s exhibition.

Cuir críoch le Culture Night by immersing yourself in ceol as Gaeilge in Club Chonradh na Gaeilge. A céilí will take place from 9 pm to 10.30pm, with live music and craic galore. Come along and finish your evening with a jig and a reel! There will also be live traditional musical performances by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann.

#ConradhNaGaeilge Heritage
Téigh go Conradh na Gaeilge to experience #Irish language & culture. Take a tour of the historic building where Michael Collins and Eamon de Valera once worked and see it come to life. Check out some unmissable family events at the Alliance Française! Bring your team to the library for the multimedia treasure hunt from 6pm to 8pm for a chance to win goodies and prizes, before heading to the building’s French restaurant for a concert by folk-pop group Alcaz. The restaurant will be open serving treats and drinks for guests to enjoy.

The Goethe-Institut is back at 37 Merrion Square! To celebrate the restoration of their gorgeous Georgian building to its former glory, they’re filling it with culture from far and near for Culture Night 2018. Come along and enjoy dance performances, a Sci-Fi reading, art in The Return gallery, film screenings and info on their language classes and library.

Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania #lithuanianembassydublin
Learn about creativity and the artistic potential of Lithuanians in Ireland; folk music and dancing, poetry, and traditional crafts. Artist Jolita Jarutienè will exhibit her paintings on the experience of returning to Lithuania and back again. The embassy will be serving a range of Lithuanian snacks and delicacies throughout the evening.

Italian Institute of Culture #italianinstituteofculturedublin
Promoting Italy’s image from the heart of Dublin city for many years, the IIC celebrates Italian culture by showcasing the nation’s many artistic and intellectual productions. This year, the Institute presents an evening of Italian opera in collaboration with Lyric Opera Productions. All are welcome to enjoy live performances of masterpieces of the opera tradition from talented singers.

Take a close look at the arts in Spanish through a multidisciplinary and exciting new programme. Singer songwriter Enda Reilly will perform a mix of songs in Irish from his album Amhráin Nua i nGaeilge/New Songs and English language songs with Yeats Poetry from his album Whorls. Historian Liz Gillis will give a talk entitled ‘The Irish Women’s Suffragette Movement’.

Áras Chrónáin Ionad Cultúir #IrishCulturalCentre
Dublin’s premier Irish Cultural Centre invites all to a free event of a guided tour around the wonderful 1840 Georgian headquarters of Muintir Chrónáin. The tour will be followed by a wonderful evening of an Irish set & Céilí dancing lessons, traditional Irish music, dance, song and a cúpla focal for all levels, from 8.30pm.

The Sugar Club
Farah Elle will sing a special one-off set in Arabic. Habibi Funk will DJ forgotten treasures from the 1970s / 1980s Arabic world. Yankari will perform another jaw-dropping set of Nigerian afrobeat & DJ Kixx / Papa Lou will play records from all over the world. Lastly, Lil Portie will feed everyone. They specialise in Jamaican & Caribbean food, but for this event will bring a North African / Middle Eastern influence to the table too. Couple more bits TBA as well.
